Anne Pasternak is President and Artistic Director of Creative Time, a cultural production agency dedicated to introducing contemporary art to new audiences and preserving public space as a place of creative expression. Since Pasternak joined the organization in the fall of 1994 the organization has presented dozens of public art projects, introducing millions of people to contemporary art, while making sure it plays an active role in public life.

Under Pasternak’s direction, Creative Time’s renowned projects have included exhibitions and performances in the historic Brooklyn Bridge Anchorage, sculptural installations in Grand Central Station’s Vanderbilt Hall, sign paintings in Coney Island, skywriting over Manhattan, artist films screenings on the NBC Astrovision in Times Square, the Tribute in Light illuminating the former World Trade Center site, and most recently , in collaboration with MOMA, Sleepwalkers, Doug Aitken’s multi image projection on the walls of the Museum of Modern Art.

Pasternak has been committed to initiating commissions that give artists opportunities to innovate their practice while responding to timely social, culture and political issues. Over the past decade, she has worked closely with Doug Aitken, Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Jenny Holzer, Gary Hume, Vik Muniz, Takashi Murakami, Shirin Neshat, Steve Powers, and Cai Guo Qiang, among many others.

In addition to her work at Creative Time, Pasternak curates independent exhibitions, consults on urban planning initiatives, and contributes essays to cultural publications. She lectures extensively throughout the United States and Europe, has served as a guest critic at Yale University and continues to teach at the School of Visual Arts.
